Oh - What a windy weekend! Perfect weather to stay in and work on a project.

Last spring I was working part-time at the Bookstore and Gift Corner here in Cottonwood (still do-one Saturday a month) If I can't work in a Papercraft-Store a used and new bookstore is the next best thing!

Anyway - this wonderful little vintage book about friendships came in from an estate sale and I immediately put it aside for my friend Beth. She and I turn 50 this summer and have been best friends since a Girl Scout camping trip the year we turned 8. I loved this adorable little book about friendship and thought it would make a great gift for her. The artwork is so charming I have just been itching to use some of the illustrations in a project, I finally decided to decoupage a presentation box in keeping with the unsophisticated child-like feel of the book. Scanners are wonderful things aren't they?
This project was my first experience with using products from my new line - Earth Safe Finishes. I used both their decoupage medium and their acrylic varnish and I must say I am delighted...and impressed. Both are easy to use, clean up was a breeze and the final project has a wonderful satiny feel. Best of all? They are environmentally friendly with no VOC's Safe even for the most sensitive users.

What you ask, is a VOC? They are the solvents used in paints and can include formaldehyde, benzene, lead, cadmium, chromium and others. These are the chemicals that 'gas out' when your mediums are drying and can cause asthma and kidney and liver ailments for starters

I'll be using more of the Earth Safe products and posting the projects here in coming weeks...Can't wait to use their Gel Mediums!
